Add new rows to related table when editing existing record in edit view?

Is it possible to do this if you have a datagrid with a set_relation_n_n lets say "cars" to "garage" Is it possible to add new cars while editing a garage row? Save and have it populate the cars table (with the newly added car from Garage edit page) as well as the cars_garage relation table?

Hard to word this I know.. but I'm looking for a similar example.
