How to join tables in edit view?

I wanna join tables in a edit view.There is two tables i wanna edit .

table entity: guid,title,main,time_created

table word:guid,status.

entity.guid = word.guid

entity's field title and word's field status,which I wanna edit in a edit view at one time.How can I make it?

Finally ,I can solve the problem by using two functions, callback_before_update and callback_after_update .
