The above tells all my problems. No solution anywhere else has any answer. There are also no errors either.
checked jquery, reinstalled the entire thing, (twice), checked all the paths. What I was missing?
Version 1.5.7.

we have a tendency to use the grocery crud in within a framework that uses a theme. Do a view source - check if there are double jquery instance .. if so - just unset the jquery request in grocerycrud .. and that should solve your problem.
Also - there is a possibiity - there is some script that is failing and hence the rest of the features may not work post that... fix those errors .. and see if the required functionality goes smooth as expected..
