how to get value from fields in edit mode

Hi
I have 2 tables
1) Name: clients fields: a,b,c
2) Name: histo fields: a,d,j,k

On the form edit, i ve take field a from the first table and d,j,k from the table 2.

after, validation i wanna insert field a from tbl1and djk into tbl2.

how can i do this please?

What is the syntax to get the value of one field in edit mode?
