Replace relation_n_n select boxes

I bought the bootstrap theme and want to replace the relation_n_n select boxes with a new interface, css, js. I was just wondering if anyone has done this before and if so what is the best approach to replacing it?

Here is the new interface I created

I created my own JavaScript class to replace the one shipped with GC, I can provide this if anyone is interested. This is for Bootstrap and I have not tested it outside of Bootstrap.
