Using ODBC driver generates error with Grocery CRUD

I'm using codeigniter with ODBC driver and DBASE tables as a DB engine (I know, I should change but it's not y call). It seem grocery is not using the db functions for compatibility with the source. Queries such as "Show tables" are not permitted in my source. Is there a plan for making grocery compatible with Codeigniter db functions?
