How to create multiple select with 2 tables only!

Hi guys, i have a question.

How can we use multiple selection with only 2 tables to connect. if i use set_relation i can only choose 1 record from the dropdown menu. i need to select as many as possible. i know it's possible using set_relation_n_n but it requires 3 tables.

Use the function field_type and change the field to multiselect.
